The "Xuanji" rotary steering drilling system, independently developed by CNOOC, recently drilled to 6,185 meters in the Kingfisher Oilfield in Uganda, setting a new depth record for both the system and the country. This marks a new breakthrough in China's high-end drilling technology. Since its deployment in the Uganda project in January 2023, the "Xuanji" system has been successfully applied for three years, completing 18 wells with cumulative footage exceeding 65,000 meters and operating for over 7,000 hours, fully demonstrating its reliability and engineering adaptability. The COSL Uganda project manager stated that the continued application of the "Xuanji" series has established a replicable high-end drilling technology service capability, contributing Chinese expertise to the global petroleum industry.
