Ethiopian Wind Power Project Built by Chinese Firm Goes into Operation, Leaders of Three Countries Attend Inauguration

The Aysha Wind Power Project in Ethiopia, constructed by China's Dongfang Electric Corporation, was officially commissioned on January 31 in the Somali Region. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh, and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. With a total capacity of 120 MW and 48 wind turbines, the project has connected its first phase of 32 units to the grid. It is set to provide reliable power for the Ethiopia-Djibouti railway economic corridor and enhance Ethiopia’s electricity export capacity to Djibouti.
