In 2026, marking its 20th anniversary, the China-Africa Business Council convened its 4th 16th Chairperson’s Office Meeting and 4th 8th Standing Council Meeting in Nansha, Guangzhou on the afternoon of January 25. The meeting communicated the key directives from the 2025 Central Economic Work Conference, presented the work report for 2025 and outlined priorities for 2026. It reviewed membership adjustments, rotation arrangements for branch/representative offices, and proposed memorandums of cooperation. Participating entrepreneurs shared outcomes and challenges in China-Africa cooperation and provided suggestions for the Council’s 20th anniversary. Chairperson Wu Yanming emphasized the need for enterprises to maintain confidence and prepare for difficulties, advocating a “time-for-space” approach to leverage Africa’s potential. He urged the Council to enhance services, build platforms, guide companies in fulfilling social responsibilities, promote localization, and issue industry-specific initiatives to prevent disorderly competition while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
