New East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center Inaugurated: China's In-depth Participation Boosts Regional Integration

On August 1st, the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center (EACLC) officially opened in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam. Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan attended, stressing it aims to modernize the market system and boost regional trade without replacing the Kariakoo traditional market.

Chinese Ambassador Chen Mingjian praised its role in China-Tanzania cooperation, highlighting confidence in Tanzania’s investment environment, local job creation, and enhanced regional connectivity. The main person in charge of EACLC Wang Xiangyun, noted that the project followed "local priority" during construction and plans to expand along TAZARA Railway and Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) to build an East Africa-wide logistics network.
