Chinese Enterprises Contribute to the Modernization of the Cocoa Industry in West Africa

Côte d’Ivoire is the world’s largest producer and exporter of cocoa, accounting for approximately 40% of global output. Currently, there are around 15 large-scale cocoa processing facilities in Côte d’Ivoire, primarily located in Abidjan and San Pedro.

The Abidjan cocoa processing factory was constructed by China Light Industry Nanning Design & Engineering Co., Ltd. The factory covers an area of approximately 21 hectares and represents the first modern state-owned cocoa processing factory in Côte d’Ivoire. This factory marks the beginning of Côte d’Ivoire’s transition from a ‘raw cocoa producer’ to a ‘cocoa processing hub’.
