Driving south from Zambia’s capital Lusaka for over 60 kilometers, a modern water supply plant comes into view. This is the site of the Phase I Kafue River Water Supply Project constructed by China Civil Engineering (Zambia) Co., Ltd.
The Phase I Kafue River Water Supply Project was built entirely according to Chinese technical standards. Its water intake stations, purification equipment, and booster pump stations were all sourced from China. Banda, the chief engineer of the project in Zambia, said, “For years, we have wanted to build a modern water supply plant. Chinese enterprises have brought us advanced technology, equipment, and management concepts. The completed Phase I Kafue River Water Supply Project operates safely and reliably, ensuring adequate water supply.”
