CABC Delegation Participates Actively in UN Summit of the Future and 79th UNGA Side Events

The China-Africa Business Council (CABC) holds Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and General Observer Status with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). As a result, CABC is invited annually to participate in major United Nations General Assembly-related forums and multilateral sustainable development processes.

In September 2024, a high-level delegation from the China-Africa Business Council (CABC) took part in more than 10 important activities during the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly and the UN Summit of the Future, held in New York from September 20 to 26. The delegation joined high-level dialogues, forums, and special events focused on global governance, sustainable development, climate action, digital cooperation, youth innovation, gender equality, and Africa’s global partnership.

During the Summit of the Future, CABC leaders joined heads of state and global stakeholders in endorsing the Pact for the Future and the Global Digital Compact, reaffirming multilateralism and shared global development. The delegation also joined a UNICEF special event titled “Rise for Green: Connecting Innovation and Public-Private Youth Cooperation”, promoting youth engagement in climate action alongside the Public Benefit International Challenge for Youth (PBIC). Separately, CABC exchanged in depth with UNICEF headquarters, participated in the African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) high-level meeting on gender equality, joined New York Climate Week, and attended the “Unstoppable Africa” summit and the 7th Africa Open for Business Summit.

Throughout the UNGA week, CABC strengthened partnerships with the UN system, African governments, and international organizations. The council promoted global consensus on sustainable development, climate action, and digital inclusion while advancing China-Africa cooperation on green growth, youth innovation, and equitable development. The extensive participation further consolidated CABC’s role as a key international platform linking China, Africa, and the UN in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
