November 11 to 19 saw the business trip organized by China-Africa Business Council to Kenya and Morocco, which was targeting at African industrial parks. CABC delegation led by CABC Chairman Mr. Wang Licheng consisted of 11 representatives from member units and 4 people from CABC Secretariat and a dozen of related local company representatives.
The whole trip of 9 days covers visits to 13 institutes such as Chinese Embassies in both countries, Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Two River Mall office, Kenya Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives, BMCE Bank Headquarters, Tangier Mediterranean Region Authority, CABC’s local member units, etc.
On November 12th, the KEPSA CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki received CABC delegation. Discussions were held towards the signing of an MoU on membership.
Hon. Cabinet Secretary of Kenya Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives received the delegation and held a meeting where each questions/problems put forward by the delegates were settled.
The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Othman Benjelloun, the Chairman of BMCE Bank. It was the first visit since MoU signed between on September 6 in China-Africa Private Sector Cooperation Summit. The visit made the MoU to the ground.
The delegation visited 2 industrial zones and a port, namely, Tangier Free Zone, Mohammed VI Technology City and Tangier Mediterranean Port.
The trip was more than visits. The delegation of CABC also witnessed the signing of MoU between CABC and Authority of Morocco Investment and Export (AMDIE) and that between CABC and African Trade & Investment Promotion Organization (Africa TIPO). Each sides agreed to collaborate in promoting China-Morocco investment.
