The
China-aid Project of Road Expansion and Upgrading from Prince House to Masaka
(10km) was officially launched on September 8. Hon. Bizimana, Minister of State
for Infrastructure of Rwanda, and H.E. Gao Wenqi, Ambassador of China to
Rwanda, attended the groundbreaking ceremony. With a total length of 10.3
kilometers, the project is the latest China-aid infrastructure project in Rwanda
and is being implemented by Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group. It covers
roadbed and pavement works, bridges and culverts, lighting and drainage, and
traffic safety facilities, and will include Rwanda’s first urban interchange.
The project is expected to reduce transport costs, improve traffic flow and
road safety, strengthen urban connectivity and improve the well-being of people
living along the route.
