The
Julius Nyerere Hydropower Station in Tanzania, with the participation of
POWERCHINA and Dongfang Electric Corporation, officially began operations on
August 22. President H.E.Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania
attended the opening ceremony and expressed that the project’s additional power
generation capacity will help ease Tanzania’s electricity shortage and create
new opportunities for investment and industrial development. During
construction, the project created around 14,000 local jobs and provided
professional skills training to thousands of Tanzanian employees, further
supporting Tanzania’s economic and social development.
