This Bridge Brings New Development Opportunities to Rural Cameroon

Recently, the bridge over the Nyong River at Malombo, constructed by a Chinese enterprise, was officially completed and opened to traffic in Makak Subdivision, Nyong-et-Kellé Division, Centre Region, Cameroon. Construction began in June 2024. As an important local transport infrastructure project and Cameroon’s first bridge built using the incremental launching method for steel girders, the bridge will improve mobility for communities on both sides of the Nyong River and enhance regional connectivity. According to the Minister of Public Works of Cameroon Hon. Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, the bridge will provide residents with safer and more convenient access across the Nyong River while supporting agricultural development, regional economic growth and connectivity. Local residents expressed that the bridge will reduce the cost of transporting agricultural products and make it easier for students, traders and patients to travel, bringing new development opportunities to rural communities.
