Burundi’s Le Renouveau published an article noting that deeper China-Africa AI
cooperation, guided by openness, inclusiveness, and multilateralism, offers new
opportunities to bridge Africa’s digital divide, address local needs, and
improve global AI governance. The article highlighted the complementarity
between China’s open-source technologies and Africa’s development needs in
areas including local languages and smart agriculture, while noting that
mechanisms such as the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO)
and AI training programs are enabling greater African participation in global
AI governance.
