Who we are

China-Africa Business Council (CABC) is a national chamber of commerce with global vision, jointly established by the UNDP, China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchange and China Society for Promotion of the Guangcai Program. On October 23, 2006, CABC was officially established with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

As a model of cooperation between government departments, private sectors and UN agencies, in 2017, CABC obtained the “Special Consultative Statusof ECOSOC and “General Observer Status” of UNCTAD, being the first among national chambers of commerce to receive this honor.

Led by the principle of “cultural respect, fair trade and win-win cooperation”, CABC actively guides Chinese enterprises in their commitment of “going to, integrating in, and contributing to Africa”. Establishing cooperative partnerships and platforms between private sectors, governments and UN agencies, CABC promotes China-Africa cooperation, South-South cooperation in a pragmatic way. For many consecutive years it was recognized the National Chamber of Excellence.

CABC actively responds to the measures of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Since 2018, CABC has hosted 8 consecutive China-Africa Private Sector Cooperation Forum, one of FOCAC’s ministerial forums. Since 2021, CABC has participated in the “nine programs” and ten partnership initiatives”: the Report on Chinese investment in Africa, the Platform for China-Africa private investment promotion, the China-Africa Industrial Park for Belt and Road cooperation in China, and 50 matchmaking activities with African small and medium-sized enterprises.

CABC is committed to serving Chinese investors in Africa. It has set up sectoral committees for health, logistics and young entrepreneurs, as well as working mechanisms for public security, infrastructure, legal and commercial affairs, and financial and taxation services. 6 regional offices across China and 1 representative office in Nigeria form CABC’s basic network for service and laison. CABC empowers member companies with information, investment, and financing services, thus increases their sense of gain.

CABC is dedicated to the socio-economic development of Africa. CABC has over 4,000 members, including members in China, overseas members and members of regional CABC councils. Member companies have business presence in 54 African countries, accumulated over USD 22 billion investment and re-investment, employed 120,000 local people, and generated over 1.7 milliom indirect local employment. Moreover, CABC encourages members to integrate into their local communities, undertake their social responsibilities, and promote people-to-people exchanges.

CABC is devoted to promoting public benefit in Africa. Supported by the UN agencies and the Organization of African First Ladies for Development, CABC launched the International Public Benefit Action for China-Africa Youth, founded the Increasing Love for Decreasing AIDS Fund, and initiated the Public Benefit International Challenge for Youth, with one aim to help African women and children affected by poverty and diseases. Over the past years, more than 131 millions people have paid attention to African issues, and over 100,000 youngsters and volunteers have participated in donations to Africa, with (committed) donations up to USD 2 million.

CABC will continue to strengthen cooperation with international organizations, think tanks and other agencies in Africa, to promote China-Africa, South-South and third-party cooperation. CABC is dedicated to creating new opportunities and mutual benefits, and to become a trusted partner for the growth of the business and the continent!
